For those that know me well, they know my passion in life after architecture is auto racing, specifically Formula Vee road racing. Tracks include Road America, Mid-Ohio, Gingerman, Grattan and Blackhawk. I’ll be racing two different cars this year. The Vortech Formula Vee car will race with the Sports Cars Club of America which culminates with the National Championship race at Road America in October. The other car is a vintage Lynx Formula Vee which will be competing at Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association events. I will be joined at the VSCDA events by my son, Brian Styczynski, who will be racing another Lynx FV. We are looking forward to some great father – son competition.
I have an open invitation to anyone that wants to join us at the track. Just let me know and I’ll arrange for passes for you to join us in the racing paddock and enjoy watching the various races. More information will follow as the season approaches.
An exciting opportunity is also in the works for Saturday, June 27th. We are looking for a select number of “celebrity” drivers to join the Studio21 Architects Racing Team at a charity event for DuPage Pads. The event will be held at the Autobahn Country Club karting track, near Joliet, IL. The 10th anniversary of this event is expected to raise over $135,000.00 this year. The event is a 4-hour endurance race, using 50mph racing go-karts on the half mile karting track. To be part of our team, you need to have “the need for speed” and be able to provide a minimum of $500.00 sponsorship money donated to DuPage Pads. There will be more details to be released soon, but if you have an interest, let us know so we can put you on our list. This will be a fun event, you don’t need to be the next upcoming F1 World Champion, so please consider joining us.
