Since 2013 Studio21Architect’s Tom Fend has been working with Ron Plonis of Exodus One, a Naperville based developer and renovator of high-quality homes in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Pictures shown are the most recent of the four projects that Exodus One finished in Oak Park, Illinois.

The original home, pictured, was a wood framed one story bungalow with a lookout, unfinished basement. The existing first floor and basement were completely redesigned and a second floor was added to bring the property up to the current market demends.

The newly redesigned first floor shown has an open floor plan including a great room, a kitchen, a family room, a half bath and a foyer. A beautiful wood paneled open stair was incorporated leading to the new second floor and to the finished basement. The second floor includes two secondary bedrooms, a hall bath, laundry and a luxurious master suite. The finished basement was redesigned to have a large family room, a bedroom, full bath and utility room.

The exterior of the home was designed to fit into the character of the existing neighborhood with a large covered front porch. A deck opening off the first floor family room is used to transition to the rear yard.
