Some of the best badminton players in the state are right here in the western suburbs and many of these young players hone their skills at Midwest Badminton Club. Midwest Badminton Club worked with Studio21 Architects to bring their new state of the art facility to the western suburbs in May of 2020.

Midwest Badminton Club is the first private badminton club in the Midwest. The founder, Thomas Chen, played badminton in Hong Kong and planned to open a club here after retiring. Deciding it made sense to start a club while he was young enough to play and enjoy the sport, he launched MBC in Woodridge in 2010. Naperville became the site of the club’s second location in 2013. They chose to close the Woodridge location while selecting a permanent home for Midwest Badminton Club that would be designed as a badminton club from the outset. Willowbrook was originally chosen as the location for the new club but parking concerns necessitated a move to Lemont Road in Woodridge near the Downers Grove town limit.
