Studio21 architects is a collaboration of the various talents in the firm



The company’s founder and President, Bill Styczynski is active in all aspects of the design process as well as the management of the firm. There are two driving passions for Bill. The first is creating personal relationships with his clients that allow him to really care about their projects. He takes on a level of concern as if it was his own project.

His other passion is competitive wheel to wheel auto racing. With a drive to compete, Bill has raced open wheel, open cockpit Formula Vee race cars for almost 40 years. It’s an intensive hobby that requires planning, preparation and teamwork, the principles which can also be applied to the business of architecture as well.

His diversified background includes residential, commercial and retail projects. He is a licensed architect with an architectural degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago and has over 40 years of experience in the architectural field and also manages our design+build projects.



Tom is a project architect for the firm. He is responsible for a full range of architectural services, from preliminary project feasibility analysis, design development and the production of construction documents, to construction phase services. Working in the profession since 1979 with firms in Columbus, Ohio and the Chicago area, he has a wide range of experience on many types of projects including residential, commercial and civic.

Tom has received numerous industry awards including numerous Gold Key Award and Crystal Key Awards from HBAGC and Best in American Remodeling award from Professional Home Builder Magazine. Tom graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a Bachelor of Environmental Design Degree and studied for a Masters in architecture at the Ohio State University. He was the design architect on the Naperville Station Town homes, the English Rows Town homes and Retail Center and hundreds of new homes, additions and renovations throughout Chicago and its suburbs, including: Downers Grove, Naperville, Hinsdale and Lake Forest. In addition, Tom has over 12 years of experience working on fire and storm restoration projects.



Gregg joined the firm in May of 2002 as a summer intern, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee the following December. After graduation, Gregg came back to a full time position. In 2008 he completed his Master’s of Architecture from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Also in 2008, Gregg became an accredited verifier for the NAHB Green Building Program, and later in 2009, received his LEED AP certification. In 2012, he completed the Architecture Registration Exam and received his architecture license for the State of Illinois.

Gregg’s role on projects leads from preliminary design through the construction document process, and he has been the project manager on a range of project types including; single family homes, additions & renovations, multi-family housing, commercial tenant build-outs, and automotive dealers.



Tess joined the firm in March of 1998. She previously helped run a family owned and operated retail business, before joining our firm as office manager. Tess handles the bookkeeping and the internal workings of the office along with the organization of the company.



ManHo Lam joined the firm in February 2003. Attended University of Cincinnati and graduated in 1998. Prior to joining Studio21 Architects, he worked in a leading engineering firm as lead designer. Experienced in large-scale projects and able to conceptualize and communicate complex concepts to clients through a variety of presentation style. He is currently responsible for 3D photo realistic renderings and maintain firm’s CAD system.
