Studio21 Architects has designed a new 20 unit apartment building complex in Downers Grove. East Village Apartments consists of two ten-unit buildings at the intersection of Rogers Street and Prospect Avenue, along the Burlington Northern tracks between the Fairview and Main Street Metra train stations.
The dwelling units are designed to appeal to median and higher end tenants that either work in Downers Grove, the surrounding areas, or commute via the BNSF rail line to other work locations. The units are a contemporary design and an open floor plan including a combined kitchen and living area with ample sized windows. Each unit features a private balcony. Although rental units, they are designed to be comparable to condominium units as they will have upscale finishes including; stainless steel appliances, in unit washer and dryers, separate heating and cooling units, stone and tile bath and kitchen finishes, and hardwood flooring. Additionally each unit will have one heated indoor parking space, one outdoor parking space and one secure storage space.
The East Village Apartments are the vision of Scott & Monika Seger. They are the owners of Dandelion Builders & Design, LLC, their family owned business which will serve as the project’s contractor and developer.
Downers Grove has a successful downtown district with sustainable retail and service businesses. This proposed development adds to the potential housing for patrons and employees of the downtown district in a pedestrian friendly manner, as well as a perfect location for those with ties to the City of Chicago. The Segers were looking to create a project with a contemporary, modern look which is less typical than that found in the traditional nature of Downers Grove but very fitting in this Downtown Transitional Zoning District where these multi-family buildings will be located.
